ABE Level 4 Diploma in Business Management (RQF)

This unit is assessed twice each year by exam in June and December (although it can be May and November respectively). Exams are normally three-hour sessions on set dates and times where you write the answers (called timed or closed-book exams). However, due to the Covid-19 virus the exam is now an open-book exam.

An open-book exam is a method of assessment that tests the same learning outcomes and assessment criteria as a timed (‘closed-book’) exam. A timed exam relies on memory recall skills and would not expect you to reference or give in-depth answers. An open-book exam is NOT simply a timed exam which is sat at home with access to textbooks and the internet, as that would not be robust or valid. An open-book exam carries the expectation that you will give more detailed answers, due to the fact that you have more time and access to textbooks and research. ABE open-book exams test knowledge as well as your skills in application, analysis and evaluation and the ability to research. Your answers will need to be detailed and reflective of the syllabus and study materials and will need to be fully referenced.

A combined question paper and answer book is added here in this section in advance on a set date. You must read the guide to open-book exams below before you answer the questions. You can submit a draft of your answers to your personal tutor who will review and comment on them, provided you submit it in the box below by the deadline for drafts. This deadline allows your tutor time to review your work, and to make any comments they think appropriate, and to return it to you while you still have time to incorporate their comments, if you choose to do so, before the final submission deadline. You can submit further drafts each time you have incorporated the comments from your tutor, but if you do then you need to email support@iqualifyuk.com each time to tell them that you have done so. No drafts are accepted for review after the deadline for submitting drafts.

Your final submission must include the completed cover sheet and be saved using the format:

[Insert relevant course code for the unit]_75769_your ABE membership number.

It must be submitted in the final submission box below by the deadline. No extensions are allowed.

Previous exam question papers and feedback from the ABE examiners (when provided) are included below.

If you want to be assessed at a particular assessment session then you need to register for the assessment and pay us the relevant ABE assessment fee (if you have not already done so). The support team will contact you in advance of the ABE registration deadline to ask whether you want to be assessed at that session, and if you do then you need to confirm it in writing with an email to support@iqualifyuk.com.

Your results are published in the Members Area of the ABE website on the specified date. You will need your ABE membership number to access your results (and you must not have any outstanding ABE fees). ABE normally send out the certificates for students who have completed a qualification two or three months after the results date.
